Good hotel, nice location and nice staff. Close to beach and in nice neighborhood.

Charming and definitely Brazilian. They accomodated our two cats, I was moving to Brazil from the U.S. The cafe da amanha was delicious and the extra service pool side or in the room (room service was also fine). We encountered a difficulty in travelling to our next and final destination on the bus because of the cats and ended up having to fly at the last minute. The hotel management allowed us to stay way past check out until almost 9:00 P.M. and only charged us for half a day. Very friendly and professional staff were a pleasure to deal with.
Nothing really. I suppose if there was anything that I would suggest to them would be more towels for the room and/or towels for guests to use at the pool. It was really a cute hotel and I hope to return someday.

Clean room. Good facilities. Close to the beach and nice restaurants. The neighborhood was safe as far as I am concerned.
A short uphill walk which might be inhibiting if one is to go by bus with a lot of bags. Also, the aircon in my room cried me a river after it's been on for a few hours....

The staff here was incredibly friendly and helpful. The location was a couple of blocks off the beach in Barra, up a hill, all of which might be a positive or a negative, but for us was great. This was a great base for our 3-day trip to Salvador. Room was simple and lovely, great configuration of beds for our family.

The location in Barra is great. True you have to trek back and forth up a hill to get to the beach. However you can't beat the value. Then to top it all off, internet is free in the rooms. Some more expensive hotels don't even provide wi-fi.

Friendly, clean, good value. Pool is small but ok for a dip. Breakfast very good. Location is good for beach (5 mins walk) and nearby attractions but up a short steep hill. On-street parking is adequate. Don't expect luxury but as a base to explore the area it's fine. Friendly staff advised us of the ferry boat which saved us 200km on the drive to our next destination
We booked our original 2 nights on this website for a reasonable rate. We extended by another night and they accepted the same rate. We came back 2 weeks later for a final night before our flight home and they jacked the price up quite a bit. It was late in the day and we didn't have time to go elsewhere. To be fair to them it's just normal Brazilian practice to charge 'Gringo' prices at every available opportunity and they duly obliged

I liked the location and the friendly staff. And the beautiful wooden floor. Quiet street, so I slept very well. Breakfast has a nice variety of fruits and cakes. The pool is small, but has a nice terrace. Thanks for a pleasant stay.
The airco is a bit noisy. Luckily it wasn't necessary to use it a night.

The staff is friendly and the hotel is rustic, but clean. In terms of value for your money, it's great, but remember what you pay for. If you want luxury, this is not the place for you. If you want a place to sleep, shower, and store your stuff that also includes breakfast and free wifi, this place can't be beat. It was exactly what we needed. It's within walking distance to Porto da Barra, voted one of the world's 20 best beaches. Also enjoyed the daily visits outside our window by the marmoset monkeys. The "Bar do Careca" around the corner has cheap, delicious food and cold beer. The location is great with many bars within walking distance.
It sits on a hill that is a pain to get up. If you have difficulty walking or if you are in a wheelchair, avoid this hotel. The bathrooms are outdated. If you don't speak Portuguese, you will have difficulty with the staff. They do not accept amex. The breakfast isn't great and it is the same every day (I'm diabetic and could eat almost nothing they serve). The hotel was perfect for my trip and I didn't have any problem with any of these things, but they are things that a potential guest should know.

The staff was very nice and helped in various issues we had such as transportation inside Salvador, restuarants, flight confirmations, etc. The place location is very close to beach which make things easy to access especially at evening. It is also reside beside a military base, which make the area a bit safer than other streets around which are already relatively safe in Salvador, as Barra is known as good place. To visit the historical center we used bus from down the road on the beach. It is very easy to get there, and as much easy to return as you have to go down exactly 1 bus stop after the famous farol.
Room is very old. Must be redecorated from floor to ceiling. Air con is very old and very noisy. It was really anoying at night because it is very hot to sleep without the air con working. The room was also not clean enough and the dark colors of the hall and the room make you feel like you are in a dungeon in Tarantino 'Hostel' movie. The shower heating system was not safe and its wires were outside. I was getting statical current from the shower tap while taking a shower. I was afraid to get electrified there. Breakfast was one of the worst we had in whole Brazil. Simply nothing was good there.

The location was relatively convenient for accessing the beach and bars of Barra, a touristic suburb of Salvador. The area is relatively safe, with reasonable choices of eateries and walking distance to most places in Barra.
The room and the bathroom in particular was dated and nothing to rave about but hard to fault. It is at the top of a hill so unless you are physically fit you would not want to stay here. Friends of guests were not allowed beyond the reception.

The location was excellent, because although it is located far from the historical center it is near the beach and is really close to several bus stops that can take you anywhere. Very good breakfast and great pool.
The showers were awful. They were electric and we couldn't open the shower without getting an electrical shock. We asked the staff to fix it and they just wrapped a plastic bag over the tap.
